Mauritius has organised its carnival in Flic en Flac on the 1st of July 2012. 

 

The Flic en Flac Carnival is an essential part of the Mauritius Shopping Fiesta 2012, which is organised by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority and which will run from the 29th of June to the 5th of August 2012. 

 

The Flic en Flac Carnival falls under the double sign of plurality and cultural exchange. Its focus will be on the celebration of diverse cultures in Mauritius.  

 

This event is also a way for Mauritius to gain more worldwide exposure through the presence of international artists and cultural exchanges.  

 

The Flic en Flac Carnival, which will run along the coastal road of Flic en Flac, will begin at 2 p.m at ‘La Vieille Cheminée’. 

 

About twenty floats and more than 600 local and international artists will lead the parade up to the ‘Ballade de Miss France’ on a course of about 800 metres.  

 

The length of the carnival is estimated at 3 km, and several international beauty pageants will be present on that day, including Miss Reunion, Miss Mauritius, Miss Brazil, Miss UK and Miss England, among others. 

 

Several Mauritian and foreign dignitaries and VIPs will also attend this exceptional event. 

 

Both the local press and more than 75 international media coming from countries like Reunion Island, France, India, China, South Africa, and England will ensure the coverage of the carnival.  

 

The parade on the 1st of July will welcome performers from the Carnival of Paris and that of Brazil.  In addition, some 600 Mauritians and international entertainers from the neighbouring islands of Rodrigues and Reunion will absorb the public’s attention for this colourful event.
